Hohot Overview
Hohot is the capital of Inner Mongolia province and it is likely that any trip that involves Inner Mongolia will also involve a stay in Hohot. Founded by the Mongolian ruler, Altan Khan, in the 16th Century in recent years the city has expanded considerably but, despite rampant development, there are still many temples to see as well as being the gateway to Inner Mongolia’s grasslands which are particularly popular with Beijingers escaping the summer heat.
