Hohot is the capital of Inner Mongolia province and it is likely that any trip that involves Inner Mongolia will also involve a stay in Hohot. The Temple of the Five Pagodas was built in 1732 with architecture very similar to that of Indian temples. In its walls there are more than 1,500 figures of Buddha. The Buddhist Da Zhao Temple was constructed in 1579 at the same time the city was founded and is the oldest remaining structure and still a place of active worship. For those with an interest in nomadic lifestyle or dinosaur fossils, the Inner Mongolian Museum is the place for you as the province is rich in both.
