Religious Destinations in China

China has a long history of religion although this aspect of the culture was dealt a heavy blow during the Cultural Revolution of the late 1960s. Since then there has been a resurgence of the traditional religions with huge sums of money going in to the restoration of temples and monasteries albeit under a certain amount of control still.

Most cities have active temples (as opposed to more tourist orientated temples) but we think some of the finest experiences can be had on China’s sacred mountains where pilgrims, scenery and religion combine in perfect harmony.

Tibet also offers a sincere spiritual experience with the devotion of the ethnic Tibetans to Buddhism very apparent. These are experiences which add immeasurably to China tours.
