Xishuangbanna Overview
China’s little slice of Thailand – the name Xishuangbanna is actually a Chinese approximation of the original Thai name “Sip Sawng Panna” meaning “12 Rice-Growing Districts” It is a relaxed part of the south of Yunnan province. Here you will find tropical forests, water-splashing festivals, South East Asian villages, great trekking and the fantastic cuisine of the Dai Ethnic minority all making this a deservedly popular destination.

Top Attractions in Xishuangbanna
Damenglong is a sleepy village around 70km from Jinhong surrounded by laid back countryside perfect for exploring by foot or by bicycle. Menghan is another sleepy town, at least during the day. By night it is a lively spot, at least lively by the laid back standards of Xishuangbanna. The Dai minority’s water splashing festival lasts for three days from April 13 to 15th. Trekking from village to village is a favourite pass time for travellers. The walking is easy going and you can stay in locals houses overnight.
